That would be perfectly in keeping with the Sith, who never like to set aside a potential resource вЂ“ and the Emperor would no doubt be delighted at the idea his enemies were continuing to serve his purposes even in death. ItвЂ™s quite possible that, instead, he decided to construct a Jedi tomb,В so the bodies of the Jedi could be used for this purpose.

The Imperial clone engineers would not be able to conduct experiments related to the Force there without samples to work on, and Palpatine wouldВ surely be unwilling to allow them to start work on his own genetic code. Star Wars: The Bad Batch season 1 introduced the Imperial cloning facility on Wayland, with Kaminoan scientistВ Nala Se forcibly escorted there to help the team there. Palpatine initially hoped to transfer his spirit into the body of the Chosen One, but that plan no doubt changed after Darth VaderвЂ™s body was so badly damaged in his first duel with Obi-Wan. His master Darth Plagueis had pointed him to the dark side technique known as essence transfer, by which a Sith Lord preserves their consciousness in either an object or another person. Instead, he sought ways to conquer death. The only question is whether or not these Jedi corpses were kept for a purpose.Д®mperor Palpatine considered himself the culmination of the Sith, and he had no intention of passing his Empire on to a successor. ItвЂ™s easy to imagine the Fortress Inquisitorius as another Palpatine base, with the tomb storing the bodies of the fallen Jedi at his command. That was why Palpatine sent the newly-christened Darth Vader there in Star Wars: Episode III вЂ“ Revenge of the Sith, hoping he could meditateВ grow there because of the dark side history of Mustafar. The Mustafar system was in itself a Sith stronghold. ItвЂ™s likely the Imperial cloning facility on Wayland, seen in Star Wars: The Bad Batch, was one of these. Others served as treasure houses, andВ others still, such as a droid manufacturing plant on Valtine, were designed to play a specific purpose in his plans.

Each of PalpatineвЂ™s strongholds served a purpose, with an Observatory on JakkuВ designed to help him figure out how to navigate the Outer Rim вЂ“ and that was potentially key to the rediscovery of the ancient Sith redoubt of Exegol.
